For the last 16 years at Amos Trust, May has meant getting on our bikes and hitting the road. This year, it will be ‘saddle sores and smiles’ as Chris Rose and Meg Williams from the Amos team will be riding Coast-to-Coast to raise funds for Gaza.

This month, we share three stories of hope from young women who are benefiting from Umthombo’s Independent Living Programme in Durban, South Africa.

Lindo (below left) and Mpendulo (below right) from Amos partner Umthombo Street Children visited the UK from Durban, South Africa, in May this year. As well as visiting supporters nationwide, they spent time in Tower Hamlets, London, with a former Umthombo volunteer. Karin Joseph writes.

On Thursday 8th October, girls from India and South Africa met online to share their demands with each other; it was a chaotic but fantastic time connecting up girls and young women thousands of miles apart but with many common experiences. They also heard demands drafted by girls in Burundi.

“We launched our Emergency Coronvirus Appeal following the lockdown of Bethlehem. Since then, we have sent through 12 emergency payments of £2,000 each. These have gone to our 3 partners on the West Bank and to our partners in South Africa, India, Nicaragua and Tanzania.” Chris Rose writes about how money from our Emergency Coronavirus Appeal is been spent.
