How to apply
Amos Climate Fellowship
Applications are currently closed.
Each year, Amos Trust publishes an open call for applications to join a new cohort of Climate Fellows. At this time, we are not accepting new applications.
Want to be notified when applications open? Follow @amos_climate_fellowship on Instagram to stay updated on the next call.
In the meantime, we encourage you to read more about the Climate Fellowship, explore the projects of current fellows and learn about the programme’s impact. This will help you decide if the Fellowship is right for you and prepare a stronger application when the call opens.

Who can apply?
This Fellowship is designed for young women land defenders and climate activists in Mexico and Central America (Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama). A maximum of 12 places are available each year.
We strongly encourage applications from trans women, LGBTIQ+ women, women of colour, women with disabilities and Indigenous women. We recognise that climate justice and gender justice are deeply interconnected, and we're committed to centring the voices of those most marginalised.
Age range: 18–35 years old.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking applicants who:
- have a clear project idea that can be completed within six months,
- are passionate about climate justice and committed to their communities,
- want to learn project management skills and grow as leaders,
- are open to collaboration, peer learning and building solidarity with other fellows,
- propose projects that address at least one of these goals:
- Reducing women’s vulnerability to climate change:
Providing knowledge, resources or tools to help women adapt and strengthen resilience. - Increasing women’s participation in climate action and land defence:
Amplifying women’s voices and building capacity for leadership. - Protecting threatened habitats and lands with a gender perspective:
Safeguarding ecosystems while centring women’s roles in conservation.
Projects can be new ideas that need resources to get started, or existing initiatives ready to scale to the next level. All projects should demonstrate how they’ll sustain their impact beyond the six-month implementation period.
The application process
When applications open, the process includes:
- Submit your application:
Sharing information about yourself, your community and your project idea. - Interview:
Selected applicants will be invited to discuss their proposals in more detail.
We understand that applying for funding can feel daunting, especially if you’ve never done it before. Many of our fellows were first-time applicants. What matters most is your commitment to your community, your connection to the land and your vision for climate justice.
What the Fellowship offers
If selected, you’ll receive:
- Funding:
Up to $2,500 USD to implement your project. - Training:
Project management skills, feminist learning approaches and capacity building. - Network:
A supportive community of women land defenders across the region. - Mentorship:
Ongoing support from the Amos team and fellow participants. - In-person gathering:

Platforms to share your story and your work.
