Many girls and young women’s lives are dominated by shame, deliberately silenced or given no opportunity to talk about their experiences. From menstruation to sexual violence, taboos and stigma prevent young women from accessing information, support and their fundamental rights.

Amos trustee and sexual health specialist Jane Walker hosts a conversation exploring how we break these silences and create spaces where young women can speak freely about their bodies, their health and their experiences.

Catherine Mongella from Cheka Sana in Tanzania shares insights from working with young women on the streets of Mwanza, where shame and stigma compound the vulnerabilities they already face. Award-winning journalist Masuma Ahuja brings her perspective on storytelling, representation and amplifying voices that are too often ignored.

Together, they explore what it takes to challenge the systems that keep young women silent and how we can support them to reclaim their stories.

Our guests:

  • Catherine Mongella: Cheka Sana, Tanzania
  • Masuma Ahuja: Award-winning journalist
  • Jane Walker: Amos Trust trustee and sexual health specialist (our guest host)
