S1, E5: What does hope taste like?
What does hope taste like?
Thursday 21st May 2020
When plans to launch the new cookbook ‘Falastin’ were put on hold due to coronavirus, we invited authors Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley to join us for a conversation about Palestinian food, culture and cooking during lockdown.
Sami Tamimi, the London-based Palestinian chef and co-founder of Ottolenghi, has spent years championing Palestinian cuisine and telling its stories through food. ‘Falastin’ co-written with Tara Wigley, celebrates the rich culinary traditions of Palestine and its diaspora.
In conversation with Amos trustee Gemma Bell, Sami and Tara recommend their favourite recipes from the book and share top tips for creating the perfect Palestinian meal at home — proving that even in lockdown, food remains a powerful way to connect with Palestinian culture and build solidarity around the kitchen table.
Our guests:
- Sami Tamimi: Palestinian chef, author and co-founder of Ottolenghi
- Tara Wigley: Food writer and co-author of ‘Falastin’
- Gemma Bell: Amos Trust trustee and founder of Gemma Bell & Co.
