Solidarity, support and relief

Why we do emergency aid

Amos Trust is not an aid organisation — we’re a justice organisation. Our work is rooted in advocacy, partnership and long-term solidarity, not charity. But how can we stand with people in Gaza and the West Bank when the needs are this acute and not do everything in our power to support them?

Since October 2023, the situation in Gaza has become catastrophic. Entire neighbourhoods lie in rubble. Hospitals are barely functioning. Children are starving. Families are displaced, traumatised and facing winter without shelter.

Our partners called for help. We answered.

“This is a plea from people on the verge of total collapse. We ask for your solidarity not in words but in action. Help us push for an end to this atrocity. Raise your voice. Demand your governments act now.

We are witnessing one of the darkest chapters of modern history. Let us not be remembered as silent bystanders. Standing with Gaza stands with the principles of humanity and justice.” Sami Khader, Director General, MA'AN Development Centre

Emergency support in Gaza

Since October 2023, we’ve focused our emergency aid on the areas where our partners identified the most urgent needs:

  • Food and humanitarian aid
The entire population of Gaza faces acute food insecurity. Famine conditions persist in many areas. Through our partners MA’AN Development Centre, Ajyal Association and Taawon, we’re delivering vital food parcels, clean water and basic supplies to families who have lost everything.
  • Medical care
More than 170,000 people have been injured. Communicable diseases are spreading rapidly. Countless conditions — including cancers — have gone untreated for over two years. Through our partnership with Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, one of the few functioning medical facilities, we’re supporting life-saving care despite severe shortages of supplies, fuel and staff.
  • Trauma support
UNICEF estimates that more than one million children in Gaza are deeply traumatised and will need long-term psychological care. We’re providing therapeutic trauma support for women and children through our partner DSPR Gaza, helping families process unimaginable loss and begin to heal.
  • Documenting the genocide
Over 260 journalists have been killed in Gaza — more than in all the wars of the 20th century combined. We stand alongside We Are Not Numbers, whose young reporters risk their lives to document the genocide from within Gaza. Their voices ensure the world cannot look away.
  • Education
Schools in Gaza have been closed for over two years and 95% have been damaged or destroyed. We support tent school initiatives providing children with safe learning spaces — because even in crisis, children need structure, community and hope for the future.
  • Sport and solidarity
We support the humanitarian work of the Gaza Sunbirds para-cycling team, who are providing food and medical support to those in need while representing resilience and hope for Gaza’s youth.

Support in the West Bank

While the world’s attention has been on Gaza, the West Bank has also faced escalating violence and repression. Settler attacks have intensified. Families are losing their incomes. Homes are being demolished.

We work with our partners Alrowwad, HIRN and Holy Land Trust to support families who have lost their livelihoods since October 2023 and are facing increased settler violence, land confiscation and displacement.

Aid is not justice

Emergency aid saves lives. It provides immediate relief. It shows solidarity when people feel abandoned by the world. But aid alone is not enough. Real justice requires ending the siege, ending the occupation, holding war criminals accountable and ensuring Palestinians can live with dignity, freedom and rights.

We do emergency aid because our partners need it and because people are suffering. But we never lose sight of the bigger fight — for justice, equality and an end to apartheid.
