In August 2025, the Bethlehem Power Group hosted the Bethlehem Comic Workshop — a collaboration between the Lakes International Comic Arts Festival (LICAF), the British Council and Amos Trust.
The workshop brought together 13 young Palestinian comic artists and was co-led by UK illustrator Mollie Ray. Over 10 days, participants explored comic storytelling, developed digital production skills and created their first complete comic works.
At the end of the workshop, an anthology entitled Qusasat (‘Snippets’) was produced, showcasing work from each of the 13 artists. A limited edition was later launched by four members of the Power Group at the annual Lakes International Comic Arts Festival.
The Power Group continues to mentor and support these emerging artists as they develop their practice and share their stories with the world. We hope to collaborate on further projects in the future.
“The workshops revealed extraordinary hidden talent in comics by young Palestinian creators, and the resulting short comics, created in just 10 days, are extraordinary. Our job now is to share the work with as many people as we can in the UK and further afield.”Julie Tait, Director, LICAF
