Watermelon merchandise by Khaled Hourani
T-shirts, Baseball shirts and Hoodies from Amos Trust only available from our Teemill web store
In the 1970s, the Israeli government made public displays of the Palestinian flag a criminal offence in Gaza and the West Bank. Palestinian artists began to circumvent the ban by using the watermelon because, when cut open, the fruit bears the national colours of the Palestinian flag — red, black and green. So, the humble watermelon became a representation of Palestinian resistance that remains so to this day.
The officer raised his voice and said, “Even if you do a watermelon, it will be confiscated!” An Israeli soldier confronting a group of Palestinian artists in the 1970s
This design is by acclaimed Palestinian artist Khaled Hourani and used with his kind permission. The T-shirts, baseball shirts and hoodies, printed on organic cotton, are all available in fitted and classic styles. All profits will go to our Gaza appeal.

Khaled Hourani’s original watermelon design is now available on T-shirts, Baseball shirts and Hoodies, directly from Amos Trust with all profits going to our emergency Gaza appeal.

Barely 30 years old, Mosab Abu Toha was already a well-known poet when the current assault on Gaza began. After the Israeli army bombed and destroyed his house, destroying a library he had built for his community use, he and his family fled for their safety. Not for the first time in their lives. His new book, ‘Forest of Noise’ is now available from Amos Trust.
