The promise — and the reality
In 2015, world leaders made a promise through the Sustainable Development Goals: achieve gender equality and empower women and girls everywhere by 2030.
A decade on, that promise is breaking
Progress has stalled — and in many places, it’s gone backwards. Rights once fought for are under threat. The funding that supports women and girls’ equality is shrinking. The result? More gender-based violence. More child brides. Fewer girls in school. More women dying in childbirth.
But while governments step back, communities are stepping up.

Amos Trust’s partners work with girls and young women who’ve faced some of the hardest realities our world has to offer. They meet them on the streets. They provide safe spaces, healthcare, education and legal support. They challenge the attitudes that push girls to the margins. And they stand with them as they rebuild their lives and reclaim their futures.
