Gaza: The Age of the Olive Trees
With Hala Hanina, Haia Mohammed and Xananine Calvillo

Tuesday 27th January, 2026
Watch again →

Hala Hanina — social and political activist, journalist and PhD researcher in politics and sociology.

What has it been like to live through the genocide in Gaza?
What has it been like to watch from a distance as your family are trapped there?

Haia Mohammed (pictured) talked of her experiences in Gaza and shared some of her poetry and prose before reflecting on the role that poetry has played in Gaza during the genocide.

Hala Hanina reflected on her work as a journalist reporting on Gaza — where over 260 colleagues have been killed — and on her research on women’s rights and empowerment in Gaza. They also talked about the situation in Gaza now and how the genocide has not ended.

We were delighted that Xananine Calvillo from the Amos Climate Fellowship was also able to join us to ask Haia and Hala about women’s rights in Gaza and the environmental impact of the genocide.

Haia, Hala and  Xananine were in conversation with Amos’ Chris Rose.

From Cairo to Gaza: Palestine Music Expo (PMX)
With Ahmed Saqer and Sarah Williams

Tuesday 3rd February, 2026
Watch again →

Ahmed Saqer from Gaza — Director of Palestine Music Expo

Palestine Music Expo (PMX) has been supporting Palestinian musicians since 2017. Since that time they have:

— presented over 80 artists internationally
— facilitated more than 15 tours
— helped secure five major record deals
— connected more than 150 global music industry delegates with Palestinian talent
— organised five festivals in Gaza for 18,000 children and their families, creating real moments of joy under siege.

When war began in October 2023, PMX became more than a showcase — it became a lifeline.

Our webinar started by looking back on the music scene in Gaza before October 2023 and the work of PMX there before focusing on the situation faced by those who escaped to Egypt from Gaza during the genocide: the difficulties and challenges they face, the massive uncertainty over what tomorrow holds and the work Ahmed set up with musicians and community groups.

We then discussed the hopes and aspirations for PMX and the importance of supporting and promoting the Palestine music scene. With Ahmed Saqer (pictured) and Sarah Williams from PMX.

Free Marwan Barghouti
With Marwan’s son, Arab Barghouti, Raja Moussaoui and Issam Adwan

Wednesday 11th February, 2026
Watch again →

Marwan Barghouti holding his hand-cuffed hands above his head.

Marwan Barghouti has been unjustly imprisoned by Israel for over two decades, convicted in a trial by a court he did not recognise. Despite his imprisonment, poll after poll shows he’s Palestine’s most popular leader. A powerful symbol of unity and a long-time advocate for freedom and dignity for the Palestinian people.

“What is happening to Barghouti is exactly the same as what happened to me.”
Nelson Mandela, 2002

The Barghouti family, led by Marwan’s wife and lawyer Fadwa Barghouti, have campaigned for Marwan Barghouti’s release since the first days of his unlawful imprisonment in 2002. Through her tireless advocacy, Fadwa built an international movement for the freedom of her husband and all Palestinian political prisoners.

Marwan’s son, Arab Barghouti and Raja Maoussaoui from the Free Marwan campaign, joined us in conversation to discuss the relaunch of the campaign to free his father and why his release is not only vastly overdue but is vital if Palestinian aspirations are to be realised and for the future.

Palestine Comedy Club
With Alaa Shehada and Charlotte Knowles

Tuesday 17th February, 2026
Watch again →

Alaa Shehada — award-winning performer and comedian from Palestine.

The Horse of Jenin was the breakout hit at the Edinburgh Festival — five stars from The Guardian: “a funny, haunting coming-of-age tale of boyhood in occupied Palestine.” Meet Alaa Shehada, the writer, actor, comedian and performer of The Horse of Jenin and co-founder of the Palestine Comedy Club.

Alaa was a graduate of the Jenin Freedom Theatre acting school, and while The Horse of Jenin has hit the critical heights, the Freedom Theatre is shuttered and closed and Alaa continues to face major challenges in performing this work.

Alaa Shehada and producer Charlotte Knowles joined us to talk about the Comedy Club, the success of The Horse of Jenin and the difficulties they’ve faced — not least in taking it to the US — and the situation in Jenin today.
