Comunidad Micelias

El micelio es una estructura con forma de raíz de los hongos, compuesta por una masa de hifas ramificadas y filamentosas que conectan y nutren el bosque.

Una red que está echando raíces

Así como el micelio crece silenciosamente bajo el suelo del bosque, la Comunidad Micelias se está convirtiendo en una red viva de conexión, resiliencia y conocimiento compartido entre mujeres defensoras del territorio y activistas climáticas de México y Centroamérica.

Por qué existe esta comunidad

Desde que lanzamos la primera generación de la del Climate Fellowship en 2024, aprendimos algo fundamental: la necesidad de conexión va mucho más allá del financiamiento. Cuando recibimos cientos de solicitudes para la segunda generación, muchas solicitantes expresaron un profundo deseo de conectarse con otras activistas — compartir experiencias, aprender mutuamente y construir fuerza colectiva.

La Comunidad Micelias existe para ellas.

Para quién es

Esta comunidad está dirigida a mujeres defensoras del territorio y activistas climáticas de México y Centroamérica, para que puedan conectar, compartir ideas, experiencias y emociones, y construir una visión colectiva para el futuro. Existe como un espacio independiente y paralelo a la Climate Fellowship.

Lo que estamos construyendo juntas

La Comunidad Micelias está en sus primeras etapas, y la estamos desarrollando junto con las integrantes — escuchando lo que necesitan y co-creando espacios que sirvan al movimiento.

Visualizamos una comunidad que ofrece:

  • Conexión
    Espacios para conocer a otras activistas, compartir estrategias y construir relaciones más allá de las fronteras.
  • Aprendizaje
    Intercambio de habilidades, oportunidades de capacitación y acceso a recursos que fortalezcan su trabajo.
  • Apoyo
    Solidaridad entre pares, sustento emocional y ayuda práctica para los desafíos que enfrentan las defensoras del territorio.
  • Amplificación
    Plataformas para compartir su voz, su trabajo y su visión para la justicia climática.

Esta comunidad crecerá orgánicamente, moldeada por las necesidades y el liderazgo de sus integrantes. Estamos construyendo la red juntas.

Growing Connections for Climate Justice

Micelias Community

Mycelium (pl.: mycelia) [a] is a root-like structure of a fungus consisting of a mass of branching, thread-like hyphae that connect and nourish the forest.

A network taking root

Just like mycelium growing silently beneath the forest floor, the Micelias Community is becoming a living network of connection, resilience and shared knowledge among women land defenders and climate activists across Mexico and Central America.

Why this community exists

Since launching our first Climate Fellowship cohort in 2024, we’ve learned something vital: the need for connection goes far beyond funding. When we received hundreds of applications for the second cohort, many applicants expressed a deep desire to connect with fellow activists — to share experiences, learn from each other and build collective strength.

The Micelias Community exists for them.

Who it’s for

This community is for women land defenders and climate activists in Mexico and Central America, offering a space to connect, share ideas, experiences and emotions, and to build a collective vision for the future. It exists as an independent space, running alongside our Climate Fellowship.

What we’re building together

The Micelias Community is in its early stages, and we’re developing it alongside members — listening to what you need and co-creating spaces that serve the movement.

We envision a community that offers:

  • Connection
    Spaces to meet other activists, share strategies and build relationships across borders.
  • Learning
    Skill-sharing, training opportunities and access to resources that strengthen your work.
  • Support
    Peer solidarity, emotional sustenance and practical help for the challenges land defenders face.
  • Amplification
    Platforms to share your voice, your work and your vision for climate justice.

This community will grow organically, shaped by the needs and leadership of its members. We’re building the network together.
