Forest of Noise Mosab Abu Toha

We were delighted to have Mosab Abu Toha join us in January. Mosab is a Palestinian poet, short-story writer and essayist from Gaza. He founded the Edward Said Library in Gaza, which was destroyed during the 2023/25 assault. He hopes to be able to rebuild it. Mosab read from his latest remarkable and critically acclaimed poetry book, Forest of Noise, and discussed the ongoing situation in Gaza and what the future may hold. Mosab is currently living in the United States.

Held Without Charge Layan Nasir and Tala Nasir

Season 7, Episode 2 | FREE
At 4:00am on Saturday 6th of April 2024, Layan Nasir was taken away at gunpoint from her parent’s home in the West Bank town of Birzeit after 15 soldiers burst into her house to arrest her. Layan and Tala Masir, a lawyer at Addameer Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, joined us to discuss Layan’s experience and that of thousands of other Palestinians in the Israeli judicial system. They discussed the appalling conditions in Israeli jails and the widespread hunger, physical, sexual and psychological abuse of Palestinian prisoners — including children, as well as Tala’s work at Addameer.

Spoken word artist Zena Kazeme performed some of her own work as well as hosting a range of other performers and activists. Zena Kazeme is a Persian-Iraqi poet and author who draws on her experiences as a former refugee to create poetry that explores themes of exile, home, war and heritage.
