Every October, we ask women in the UK to stand in solidarity with women in Gaza by hosting fundraising events throughout the Autumn or by donating to our Women 4 Women Appeal. So many people ask about this campaign all year round so we are more than happy for you to support this amazing work at any time of year.

Every year, to mark breast cancer awareness month (or Rosy October as it’s called in Gaza), we ask women to come together to do something they love, to raise awareness and vital funds to help the women of Gaza to access the breast cancer screening programme at Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City.
Past events have included coffee mornings, art exhibitions, gigs, Palestinian dinners, clothes swaps, exhibitions, gin tasting, marathons, interactive installations and church services. Just £60 provides breast cancer screening and support for one woman in Gaza.

Screening is so simple and so effective — if we can work with women so that they can identify breast cancer early, we can treat it. We need to make screening normal for women and change traditional attitudes. At the moment too many die, they are scared that if diagnosed they will be shunned by their families. Last month, Amos’ Megan Williams joined the Gaza Sunbirds para-cycling team in Zurich, as Alaa Al Dali, the original Sunbird, made a historic debut and became the first cyclist to compete for Palestine at the UCI Cycling Road and Para-cycling World Championships. Read the full story.
“In 2022, 448 young people received vocational training from NECC. 80 graduates were placed in work placements with local businesses for on-the-job training.” Karin Joseph shares an update from our partner NECC in Gaza as part of our new Stories of Hope series.

At Amos Trust, ‘We do Hope’. Our monthly Stories of Hope blog post and email normally celebrates our partners around the world. But this month, we would like to celebrate all of you, our supporters, who, over the last 6 months, have been amazing at coming together to speak out, march and raise funds for our emergency appeal for Gaza and the West Bank.
This May, we have covered a lot of kilometres on the bike. From the hilly Lake District to the South of France, our supporters have been getting in the saddle in solidarity with Gaza and the West Bank and fundraising for our emergency appeal. Amos’ Meg Williams writes.
Amos has partnered with Al Ahli Baptist Hospital for over 30 years. On 17th October 2023, its diagnostic unit was hit by a shell in the first days of the war. Then on 17th October, Al Ahli was the first hospital in Gaza to be hit by a rocket. Read our blog post about the hospital one year on.
