Wi’am Conflict Resolution Centre is our oldest partner in Palestine and provides an oasis for Palestinian communities in and around Bethlehem.
Situated next to a main checkpoint, and overlooked by a military watchtower and the Separation Wall, the centre provides a joyful act of peaceful resistance through its cultivation of community gardens complete with children’s play area.
The centre aims to strengthen local communities and to support them in tackling increased family breakdowns and community tensions created by the occupation and lack of freedom. Wi'am is rooted in the belief that helping people resolve their personal conflicts helps to preserve Palestinian society and people's faith in non-violent possibilities.
It offers counselling, mediation and reconciliation, helping to address the needs of all community groups including women, young people, couples, older people, neighbours and children.

“Obaida Akram Abdurahman Jawabra was a Palestinian teenager from al-Arroub refugee camp near Hebron. Yesterday, Israeli forces shot and killed Obaida with a bullet to the heart. He was 17 years old. We are heartbroken.” Ayed Abu Eqtaish writes about some heartbreaking news from al-Arroub refugee camp in the West Bank.
“The struggles for environmental, social, racial, economic and political justice are intertwined. Connecting these struggles is a necessary precondition for a sustainable world.” Amos Trust has recently endorsed this campaign from Stop the Wall about the Jewish National Fund and how it disguises itself as a hero of the environment and why we need to hold it accountable. This morning we received this press release from Israeli human rights organisation B’Tselem as one of 53 civil society groups standing with these Palestinian organisations. “Earlier today we heard about Israeli raids on Palestinian civil society organisations and saw damage done to St Andrew’s Church in Ramallah. UK remains a firm supporter of Palestinian civil society and the important role such organisations play in upholding human rights.” Full details.
On Friday, 24th September, Amos Trust Director Chris Rose met with Ambassador Dr Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian Ambassador to the UK. The main item in their discussions was UK Prime Minister Liz Truss’ announcement that she is considering relocating the British embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Dr Zomlot has sent this message to Amos Trust supporters.
