Difficulty rating: Easy

Stage 5 continues through the beautiful rural Champagne area of France. This is a chance to lose yourself and become fully absorbed into the local countryside and big skies.

We head down to Brienne-le-Chateau whose medieval lords had a claim to the Kingdom of Jerusalem. We then travel through la Foret d’Oreint and stay at Bar-Sur-Aube, home of the 1911 Champagne riots – possibly the best riots ever, from where people can take the opportunity to visit the beautiful medieval city of Troyes.

Our week's walk concludes in Langres with its ancient defensive walls surrounding the old city and the home of the renowned cheese of the same name.
