Amos Trust is not an aid organisation. But how can we stand in solidarity with people in Gaza and the West Bank if we do not do all that we can to support them when we see so much suffering?
In the early hours of Tuesday 18th March, Israel launched fresh bombing raids on Gaza, tearing up what remained of the ceasefire agreement. These raids killed over 404 people (including 100 children), injured hundreds more and terrified the entire community.
According to official figures from the Gazan Ministry of Health, more than 50,000 people have died in Gaza since 7th October 2023, with 8,000 more missing and presumed dead. In reality, the true number is likely to be far higher.
92% of homes in Gaza City have been destroyed or badly damaged and the infrastructure has been completely obliterated. Further north, in Jabalia, Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia, the devastation is even worse.
“Many people at the hospital feel very down about the current situation. They had started to feel optimistic, but now it is so hard to keep any hope. It feels like the world will just watch us starve and say nothing.” Suhaila Tarazi, Director, Al Ahli Hospital
Al Ahli remains one of the only trauma hospitals still operating in Gaza City.
No Aid, No Hope
Partnership: Food aid being delivered in Gaza funded by Amos Trust
— — — — — — —
No aid has entered Gaza since 2nd March and the situation is rapidly deteriorating. Our partners at MA’AN Development Centre have been providing hot Iftar meals, but supplies have become extremely difficult to obtain.
Palestinians report that, since the blockade was tightened, the prices of what little remains have soared, with basic necessities costing up to 300% more — a situation described as “reminiscent of the famine period” before the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, in the West Bank, Israel has carried out a major offensive on Jenin and Tulkarem, placing the entire region under lockdown. In recent weeks, 898 new checkpoints have been set up and 173 iron gates have been erected to further cut off Palestinian towns and cities, restricting movement and deepening the crisis.
Our appeal will continue to fund:
essential medical care
vital food and humanitarian aid
therapeutic trauma support for women and children
young writers documenting a genocide
small, inspirational projects focused on education, culture and resisting home demolitions.

Working with local and international peace activists, and partnering with grass-roots projects, to call for a just peace, reconciliation and full equal rights for all Palestinians and Israelis.
Addressing the impact of climate change and the causes of extreme poverty, building sustainable rural communities and empowering them to realise their rights.
Bringing people together to meet our partners from around the world, visiting the communities they work in and seeing their projects in action — building solidarity and lasting friendships.
