Get ready for an unforgettable cycling adventure
This year, the annual Amos Road Club ride takes us to the stunning Somerset Levels from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th May. We’ll stay at the charming Cheddar YHA, nestled on the edge of Mendip Hills — a perfect base for a weekend of cycling, camaraderie and community.
Cheddar has a wide variety of rides available, including easy rides to Wells, Glastonbury, Bath or Weston-super-Mare and the Bristol Channel and the chance for a pleasant detour along The Strawberry Line.
1. Cycling
Discover the beauty of Somerset with rides for all abilities:
Amos rides are open to all
Our rides are known for their friendliness, fun and support. They provide a chance to meet like-minded people, enjoy the beautiful scenery and hear more about our work.
Routes will be planned by local cyclists and you’ll have access to maps and downloads ahead of time. We will cycle in small, friendly groups, with plenty of café stops along the way. All riders are responsible for their safety and well-being, although a support vehicle will be joining us.
2. Accommodation
We will be staying at the Cheddar YHA, Hillfield, Cheddar, Somerset BS27 3HN. Accommodation is in a variety of shared rooms with some double rooms available. You will need to bring your own towels.
You can arrive from 4:00pm on Friday 23rd May, with check out at 10:00am on Monday 26th. Please let us know if you would like to bring your own caravan, camper or tent for a reduced rate.
3. Catering
We have taken over Cheddar YHA and will be self-catering for the weekend. We have some fantastic volunteers leading this, but we will all need to lend a helping hand with some washing up, etc.
On the Saturday night, we plan on holding a Palestinian feast with Amos team member Sally Azzam from Nazareth.
We will provide:
We suggest people get a takeout from the nearby Cheddar Fish Bar on the Friday evening (open till 8:00pm) or get food on route. There are a variety of local pubs and we will be running our own bar in partnership with local brewery, Cheddar Ales.
4. Cost
The cost of the weekend is:
Secure your spot with a £40 deposit and let us know your dietary requirements. Subsidised rates are available — so please do not hesitate to speak to us.
5. Fundraising Opportunities
Turn your ride into a meaningful contribution by supporting one of our three areas of work:
Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out. Book now and get ready for a weekend of cycling, connection and making a difference.
