S5, E5: Where the Jaguar Smiles – CEPAD at 50
Where the Jaguar Smiles: CEPAD at 50
Tuesday 15th February 2022
For our fifth episode of A Dozen Tuesdays we headed to Nicaragua where Amos Trust’s Karin Joseph was live in Teustepe with CEPAD Director Emily Reyes and field workers Harold Blandon and Joel Rodriguez to celebrate CEPAD’s 50th anniversary.
CEPAD has worked in rural Nicaragua for half a century, supporting communities facing poverty, natural disasters and climate breakdown. Their work combines disaster response, sustainable agriculture, water management and community organizing — helping people build resilience in one of the countries most affected by climate change.
Emily, Harold and Joel updated us on their current work, particularly their new five-year programme with seven communities around Teustepe in the Boaco region that Amos supports. They shared stories from the ground, explained how communities are adapting to climate crisis and reflected on 50 years of grassroots solidarity.
Our guests:
- Emily Reyes: Director, CEPAD
- Harold Blandon: Field worker, CEPAD
- Joel Rodriguez: Field worker, CEPAD
- Karin Joseph: Amos Trust (host)
