It's very simple – we're asking for full equal rights for everybody who calls the Holy Land home. Just Walk to Jerusalem is a bold initiative to mark the centenary of the Balfour Declaration and 50 years of military occupation of the Palestinian Territories.
Just Walk to Jerusalem will mark:
You are now able to book different stages of the walk along the entire route – from London to Dover, various sections through France, Switzerland, Italy and on to Greece, Turkey and Jordan.
The entire 2000 mile route of the Just Walk to Jerusalem.
Finally, we'll walk through the West Bank where we'll be joined by many friends and supporters from Palestine and the UK as we get closer to Jerusalem, where the walk will conclude on 2nd November – the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.
So please – share the news that Just Walk booking is now open and we very much hope that you'll join us in this exciting initiative as we simply, just walk.
A hundred years is far too long for any conflict to go unresolved. The continued occupation and theft of Palestinian land on the West Bank cannot continue. The siege of Gaza must end. We have to change the record.
Jews and Palestinians must be treated equally across all of the Holy Land with economic prosperity and security for all. Along our pilgrimage, we'll share thoughts, photos and video using the hashtag #changetherecord
As we enter the Holy Land we'll walk with and listen to our Christian, Jewish and Muslim partners and friends who are working towards justice and reconciliation. Using #changetherecord we'll share their experiences and ideas.
We want to build a better understanding of the conflict, particularly among church communities in the UK, and enable conversation and dialogue that recognises today's oppression and injustice, much of which can be traced back to the Balfour Declaration.
In undertaking the Just Walk to Jerusalem, Amos Trust will draw on its 30 years of calling for a just peace for Palestinians which we believe is the best hope for peace and security for Israelis too.
As the UK government prepares to celebrate the centenary of the Balfour Declaration and its role in creating a national home for the Jewish people, we call on our political leaders to recognise that these celebrations will only have real meaning if they are used to renew efforts toward ensuring a just peace.
The UK government should honour its one-hundred-year-old pledge to safeguard Palestinian rights and work with others to create the framework for peace and security for all who call the Holy Land home.
Our experience teaches us that those with power and authority over others will not relinquish it without both encouragement and pressure. We are committed to fostering better understanding and a just reconciliation between Israeli Jews and Palestinians.
We believe the international community, the UK Government, faith communities and wider civil society all have an important role to play in creating justice and peace.
